Destiny Series – How to walk in to your destiny
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. – Jer 29:11
I’m sure all of us in the Christian circle have heard this verse at least once. It is a very comforting thought to know that our creator has a plan for our lives and that its good plan, having said that it is one thing to know that God has a plan for your life and its totally another to live that plan.
In my personal walk with God and from the study of the scriptures I have realized there are definite milestones and landmarks one has to cross in order to fulfill His God given destiny.
Come with me as I take you along few life lessons that I think are vital and life changing.
Discover your Destiny
A healthy percentage of church goers know that God has a plan for their life. They may even quote few scriptures to convince you off it, but if you ask them what is that purpose? What is their role in God’s magnum opus? We will realize very few have actually discovered their God given purpose. You can ask me how can you say that. Well I used to be one of them. I always knew God had called me for some thing and that He had a plan & purpose for my life but I just did not know what it was.
So here are few things to keep in mind
It’s not cheap
Discovering your purpose in Christ is not cheap. If it were everybody will be aware of it. As much as God wants us to know what His plans and purposes are He is not gonna throw it in your direction if you don’t appreciate and value it. You can be saved and delivered and still not know what God’s plans for your life is. There is a certain amount of diligence and perusal that is required to figure it out. I make this point because not every body in Christendom has an angelic visitation announcing to them and those around how great they are going to be. Most individuals in the Bible became intentional in their prayers and perusal to discover their purpose in life.
Pursue His presence
It’s in the pursuit of His presence that purpose is found. I always narrate this example when asked how do I find out God purpose in my life. When we analyze the story of the demoniac who was set free in the 8th chapter of Luke, we will notice that Jesus did not reveal this man’s purpose until this man began to pursue Him. Jesus had set the man free from the demons and healed his condition, however did not tell him what he is supposed to do next.
37Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again
38Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, Go in to the ten cities and preach the Good news …
When you read verses 37 and 38 you notice that Jesus was about to leave the place after the healing and deliverance but when the demoniac in verse 38 started pursuing God. Jesus immediately reveled to Him what he had to do next. Always remember your purpose is revealed by God and in God. Seek Him today
I’d like to stop this post here because the next point on hearing God is one of my favorite subjects to talk about and its also time consuming, so I will post that in my next blog post. Mean while will you be kind enough to remember me and my team in your precious prayers as we minister in Mumbai over the weekend.
We love hearing from you so let us know how these posts are impacting your life. Share your thoughts and feel free to comment and let us know what you think.
God bless
