Can I trust you with souls?
Can I trust you with souls?
Sitting in a Sunday morning service, listening to the preacher sharing about the miracles that had happened in the previous service I was amazed at the display of God’s power. Healing the ones that came desperate for a touch of God and saving the utmost. While I was busy absorbing all that was being said and shown. I heard the still small voice of God asking “Can God trust you with souls?” My answer was least convincing
But the thought stayed with me for sometime. I though about what could make God ask me that question? What did God expect from me? Was there a part of my life he was not pleased with? Was He trying to confront the “Jekyll and Hyde” behavior? Or was he trying to get me into intense prayer and action? Random thoughts rattled my mind.
So this morning I stumbled upon a scripture that I want to share with you. I would like to call this the creed of a soul winner or the primary responsibility of a soul winner.
Matthew – 4: 18 to 20
Jesus said follow me and I will make you fisher of men
I think this is the most important point of all. If God has to trust you with souls of other men He has to first trust you with your personal walk with Him. He said follow me and I will make you fishers of men. Our responsibility is to keep sight of Him and follow Him and Jesus will keep His side of the bargain by making you a soul winner. If I’m not concerned about my walk with the Lord why will I be concerned about the millions of other people who are not walking with Him? I put it like this you can’t be a real follower of Jesus and not be a soul winner. They that are closest to Him will always be Shepherds to lost souls. Church its time we focus on Christ and becoming a genuine follower of Christ. Genuine followers of Jesus make genuine soul winners.
Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining..
I love this passage of scripture; it fully demonstrates the heart of the father and the key to evangelism
As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.
I so wish I had an audience to speak this verbally because I’m so excited about this scripture that I can’t fully write about it, I guess I’m a better verbal communicator than a written one. So in this passage Matthew the sinner gets saved He throws a party to celebrate His conversion. Unlike His previous celebrations He is not the centre of attraction, He is not the coolest dude. Matthew made Jesus the King of his life. I love the phrase ‘While Jesus was reclining…. sinners and tax collectors dined with Him.” When Jesus is truly exalted in your life you will become an immediate soul winner. Jesus said when the son man is lifted up he will draw all men to himself. Jesus did not have any restrictions there was no protocol and vain hindrances. Isn’t it amazing how many sinners were attracted to Jesus? But some how the modern day church and Christians manage to drive away sinners! Matthew called Jesus and allowed him to Be Jesus. It is amazing what will happen to your Life if you just let God be God in your life and not a prayer answering machine. I want to ask you a question who is reclining in your life?
I wish to write more about this. Hopefully by Friday I should be able to update my blog again. Let me know if this post has encouraged you and share it with a friend.
